Our History

Grand Island Express began in 1967 by the Pirnie family as a moving and storage company, and is now in its third generation of family ownership and operation. In 1972, the family purchased their first refrigerated trailers and has steadily grown the company ever since then.

Grand Island Express’ focus is not to be the biggest truck line, but the best in our niche markets. We are committed to our customers, and we specialize in working with small to medium-sized businesses whose needs are growing. Service truly is our driving force.

Company Culture

While the trucking industry typically sees high driver turnover – close to 100% annually – Grand Island Express enjoys a high retention rate with drivers, technicians, and support staff.

The secret to low turnover is simple: Grand Island Express treats people with respect, always conducts its business with honesty and integrity, and maintains a culture where people are given the freedom to think with creativity and innovation.

Those that work at Grand Island Express enjoy a true open-door policy with our senior management. This allows for collaboration, innovation, and camaraderie at all levels.
Safety is paramount at Grand Island Express. Over a fourth of Grand Island Express drivers have driven over a million miles accident-free. The Grand Island Express Safety Department ensures drivers receive the most advanced training, tools, and information available to make safety a top priority.
